A lot has happened in the world of eSports since June 12, 2016. TSM won the NA LCS Spring Split, secured a place at Worlds, got destroyed at Worlds and then lost on home soil at IEM Oakland. Back in June we were introduced to patch 6.88. When it launched everyone knew this would be the patch that TI6 was played on, but few expected it to go on for half a year. More than a few smaller patches have kept the meta ticking over but we haven’t seen a major new patch for a very long time. But now we are just days away from 6.89 – or what some are referring to as Dota 3.
Surprisingly we know exactly when the patch is coming, and part of what will be included, that is providing Valve sticks to their dates, which we all know doesn’t happen all that often. On December 12 the New Journey Update will hit, and most likely change almost everything we know about Dota.
The new hero Monkey King will be in there after being teased back at TI and of course there will be a ton of balance changes. But speculating on specific details about things we already know are happening is a little dry, so we’ve gone one step further, and come up with a wish list of revolutionary changes that we could see in 6.89, which would have a massive impact on both the pro scene and your daily pub games. Many probably won’t happen any time soon, but we could easily see one or two in the next few days.
