We here at Blog of Legends were fortunate enough to sit with CEO Ann Hand of Super League Gaming to discuss it’s surreal growth.

In case you haven’t heard of Super League Gaming, they’ve come up with a fantastic and very unique idea to show the masses how great Esports can be. Available in different cities across the country, Super League Gaming allows gamers to play in movie theaters with their action being shown on the big screen.

It’s an amazing concept that brings everyone together to appreciate everything games like League and Minecraft are all about. Here is what Ann had to say about the Esports scene as well as her favorite part about League:

With Esports gaining some major popularity across the world, what has been the key factor in its continued growth?

Esports taps into a unique space between traditional sports, technology and entertainment allowing us to compete and have fun in a way that works with the pace of our lives and how we consume so much of our content. I love watching our millennial players who have defined themselves through their digital persona early in their life come into our arenas and bring their gamer-selves into the physical arena and onto the big screen. Some may think eSports is very different from traditional sports, but what I see through Super League is that so much is the same – gamers love the thrill of the competition, whether spectating or playing, and they love the camaraderie, teamwork, and experience of rooting for each other and their team.

What do you say to naysayers that don’t truly believe that Esports are a viable professional sport?

I don’t even hear anyone say that!  If anything I hear people say that they see it and believe it, but just still don’t get it perhaps because they don’t play the games themselves. Whether it be potential partners or investors no one disputes that eSports has arrived.  I enjoy explaining what I know about these games and the players that love them – and more importantly what they learn from playing these games that is only enhanced through Super League. These games involve serious skill and strategy, and Super League adds an extra level of community and competitiveness around it.

What is your favorite part of League?

Well as I just mentioned, I am so impressed with the layers and levels of strategy in League.  Anyone who tries to call this just a game needs to come to one of our events!
